The Tradition
Ethiopia is recognized as the birthplace of coffee. The ceremony — practiced for centuries — is far more than a beverage ritual. It is an invitation to slow down, to be present, and to honor one another through hospitality.
In Ethiopian culture, coffee is rarely consumed alone. Friends, neighbors, and guests gather as fresh beans are roasted in front of them, the rich aroma filling the room. Coffee is brewed in the traditional jebena, poured in three rounds, and shared as an act of respect, unity, and peace.
These traditions strengthen relationships, reduce isolation, and nurture emotional well-being. Coffee & Connection Night carries that intention into Atlanta — a candlelit space to gather intentionally, listen deeply, and build a community that supports one another.
